Now whay would RIM have wanted Palm?

I can understand why the following companies would have wanted to buy Palm -

HP - for WebOS, for decent mobile devices, for market share
Apple - For a device with a keyboard
Lenovo - As an entrypoint into mobile
Acer - for a bigger share of mobile, WebOS

One bidder (according to a lot of rumours) was RIM. Who have a keyboard device, an OS and market share in those markets

Why would RIM want Palm then? - an OS for a slate perhaps?
